As part of commemorating Papillion’s 150th anniversary, the City of Papillion and Papillion Area Historical Society are partnering to host a performance of “Grant and Twain: The Men and The Memoirs.” The performance will be Oct. 3, 3 p.m. at Papillion Landing in the Chrysalis Event Center. The event is for all ages and free to attend.
This two-act play is co-written by living history scholars Dr. Curt Fields and Warren Brown. The play tells the little-known story of the friendship between Ulysses S. Grant and Mark Twain and how the unlikely journey of their lives respectively culminated in the publication of one of the greatest American novels and one of the most remarkable American military memoirs. This intriguing, yet often overlooked story provides insights into their early years, their families, their friendship, and their profound, defining partnership and its conclusion in 1885. Fields and Brown will be available for a Q&A session after the performance.
